Post 49 Bulls Compete At District Tournament

The Post 49 Bulls scored one victory and came close in the semi-final round during the district baseball tournament held in Billings.

Issac Johnson pitched a gem to lift the Post 49 Bulls over the Billings Cardinals, 2-1, to open the district baseball tournament in Billings on Thursday.

Johnson threw all seven innings for the victory. He allowed just four hits and struck-out three batters.

The Bulls gained a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when a bases-loaded walk to Walker Ator allowed Payton Hauge to cross the plate.

The Cardinals had bases loaded with no outs in the top of the fifth, but Johnson got out of the jam by retiring the next three batters on fly balls.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bode Miller walked, stole second and then scored on a single by Johnson for a 2-0 advantage.

Billings put up a scoring threat in the top of the sixth, but a base runner was thrown out at the plate to end the frame.

A double by Max Murphy scored the Cardinals’ first run to cut the gap to 2-1 in the top of the seventh. Johnson fanned the final batter to end the contest.

Having the Bulls’ three hits in the game were Johnson, Hauge and Walker Ator.

On Friday night, the Bulls fell short against the Billings Blue Jays by a 3-0 final.

The Blue Jays tallied two runs in the third and scored another in the fourth inning.

The Bulls accounted for a scoring threat in the sixth when Jackson Oie and Johnson each singled. The Bulls, however, were held scoreless.

Ator pitched a solid game for the Bulls. He allowed just five hits in six innings.

Having the Bulls' hits were Johnson, C. Oie and J. Oie.

Laurel eliminated the Bulls, 12-1, on Saturday.

The Dodgers led 4-0 after three innings. Laurel put the game away with four runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh.

The Bulls scored their run in the bottom of the fifth when C. Oie tripled and then crossed the plate on an error.

The Bulls loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to score.

Having the Bulls' four hits were B. Miller, Hauge, C. Oie and Ator.

B. Miller and J. Oie pitched for the Bulls.
