Wolf Point Schools Hires Thirteen In Special Monday Night Meeting

The Wolf Point School District board of trustees held a special meeting Monday, Aug. 17. The meeting was made available at the Southside School Facebook page.

Topping the discussion was the recommendation to hire activities director Cody Larson as assistant high school volleyball coach. The recommendation came months after the district was unable to hire an assistant coach and the season now underway.

Public comment on social media about the hires included LJ Sande, who said, “The students need consistency. Mr. Larson works well with the students and with the other coaches.”

Erin Loendorf commented, “The volleyball season has started, and no other applicants. 35 plus girls on the team warrants a 3rd coach. I feel we are at the timeline to need someone in the gym tomorrow as a coach for the sake of the girls. If he is willing to do the work, let him and move on.”

The board approved Larson’s hire as assistant high school volleyball coach, as well as: Jane Sorley for hire as a teacher at Southside, Melissa Efta for Southside librarian, Brenda Dionne for Northside special education paraprofessional, Sean Bighorn for Northside assistant custodian, Patricia Toavs for co-special education director, Sarah Schmasow for junior high science teacher, Jeff Mc-Morris for junior high credit recovery and virtual teacher coordinator, Wyatt Miller volunteer cross-country coach, Scott Vandall for junior high head wrestling coach, David Hopson for assistant junior high wrestling coach, Susan Brown as contract administrator for Southside and Joelle Page for 504 coordinator.

JoAnn Olson resigned as paraprofessional at Southside.

Adult lunch prices were set. Adult lunch price is required to be at least the total of the federal reimbursement for free students plus value of USDA Foods, plus state match which is $3.8338 for 2020-2021. The adult breakfast price uses only the federal free reimbursement rate which is $1.89 for 2020-2021. Erickson recommended the board set adult lunch prices at $4 and breakfast prices at $2 for the 2020-2021 school year. A resolution was passed unanimously.

Out-of-district attendance agreements have been received from Vida and Lustre districts and were approved by the board.
