Bainville Football Practices Underway

Community News Staff With a turnout of 19 players, the Bainville Bulldogs look like a team ready to contend for a playoff spot in the six-man football ranks this season.

Leading the squad is new head coach Trustin Holcomb. During his high school days, he played three years for the Culbertson/Bainville co-op and his senior year for the Bulldogs.

“A lot of intensity for sure,” Holcomb said when asked what fans can expect from his teams. “We're going to spread things out and be a quick team.”

The only two seniors on the squad are Britten VanGorder, a transfer student from Culbertson, and Kaden Hanson. Holcomb said that Hanson saw a good amount of playing team last season.

“We have quite a few freshmen,” Holcomb added. “We have a solid junior class.”

A strong point for the Bulldogs is expected to be the overall team speed.

“We're fast. We have a lot of speed,” Holcomb said. “We have a lot of natural ability.”

The Bulldogs also feature decent size on the line. The squad's main weakness is its inexperience.

Defending state champion Jordan is expected to be the team to beat again in the league. “They are always a well-coached team,” Holcomb noted.

Also expected to battle for the league title are Richey-Lambert and Wibaux.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to open their season at Froid/Lake on Sept. 5.
