Arlie Shields
Arlie Shields, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020.
He was born Sept. 25, 1958, to Edward Lee Shields and Rosaline Jones Shields.
He met the love of his life Bernadine in 1982. From this union, Debra and Antoinette were born.
He played basketball and ran cross country while in high school. He later went to college for auto mechanics.
He was a skilled craftsman in the repair of cars. He spent his leisurely time working on various vehicles with his little helper Deb. He spent a lot of time rearing and teaching Hunter. He liked to tease and joke. He had an insatiable sweet tooth, eating out, traveling and going to the movies. He enjoyed spending time with his brother Mervyn, who took care of him while growing up. Also, he loved spending time with his uncle Jerry Alfery, working on cars or whatever project they had.
He loved music, especially AC/DC’s Thunderstruck. One of his favorite drum groups was Elks Whistle.
In addition to Bernadine, he is survived by Hunter Shields; children, Debra Hapa, Antoinette Shields, Jennifer Montclair, Karl Hougan; sister, Linda “Shaggy” Shields-Littlehead; adopted brother, Arlie Deserly; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Debra Clark, Leola Lambert, Odessa Fourstar and Gloria Diserly; and brothers, Roy Allen Jones, Edward Lee Shields Jr. and Shep Ferguson.
Rosary was held Friday, Aug. 21, at the Poplar powwow grounds. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
