Culbertson/Bainville Cross-Country
The Culbertson/Bainville cross-country program has a great tradition of putting together strong teams. This season shouldn't be any different.
The squad includes 11 runners with five boys and six girls. Everybody returns from last year's team except for two runner including Carson Ullmer who placed 13th at the state meet.
Coach Dave Solem said the program's goal is for the boys and girls teams to each place in the top 10 at the state competition.
He said Manhattan Christian's boys have won the last four state titles and are the favorites again this year. Solem said Richey-Lambert should be the top squad in this area.
Seeley-Swan is the team to beat in the girls' division.
Solem expects senior Colby Olson to have a solid season for the Cowboys. He missed most of last season with an injury.
“He ran all summer long,” Solem said. “He showed up for every workout.”
On the girls' side, sophomore Kayli Olson returns after placing 19th at the state meet as a freshman.
Autumn Bergum is also counted on to have a solid campaign. She finished in 37th place at the state meet last year.
“She ran all summer and is very fit,” Solem said.
Culbertson/Bainville will open its season at the Sidney Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 29.
