The Culbertson/Bainville cross country team emerged with a second-place showing in the girls’ standings during action in Poplar on Saturday morning, Sept. 5.

Culbertson/Bainville finished with a team score of 95 points. Glasgow earned top honors with 53 points. Also in the top six were Poplar at 96, Scobey at 122, Fairview at 153 and Malta at 175.

Glasgow's Iris McKean earned top individual honors with a time of 19:50.41.

Leading Culbertson/Bainville were Kayli Olson, a sophomore, in eighth place at 24:36.17 and Sam Palmer, a freshman, in ninth place at 25:08.37.

“For the start of the season, it was good,” Olson said after the race. “I would like to get my time lower.”

She noted that the squad is competing well after having only two runners out for the sport three years ago.

“I'm excited for that,” Olson said of the participation.

Autumn Bergum, a junior, finished 19th at 27:09.49. Abbey Granbois, a senior, placed 28th at 28:16.60.

Megan Granbois, a sophomore, took 31st at 29:26.52. Donna Butifoker, a senior, finished 33rd at 29:37.81.

On the boys' side, senior Colby Olson led Culbertson/ Bainville with a 25th-place showing at 22:11.37. Drae Nelson, a sophomore, placed 28th at 23:29.19.

Wyatt Snyder, a junior, took 29th at 24:01.27. Maurice Bighorn, a sophomore, placed 33rd at 26:43.26.

Glasgow was the top boys team followed by Richey/ Lambert and Poplar.

Samuel Smith of Richey/ Lambert earned individual honors by running the course in 17:01.82.

Culbertson/Bainville will host their home meet in Culbertson on Saturday, Sept. 12.
