The Culbertson/Bainville Cowgirls topped the competition at the Spartain Invitational cross-country meet in Scobey Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Cowgirls earned first place with 16 points. Poplar took second with 26 and Scobey placed third with 28 points.

Kayli Olson led Culbertson/ Bainville with a time of 24:32.58 for fourth-place honors.

Sam Palmer finished fifth at 24:40.94. Autumn Bergum finished seventh at 25:23.43.

Abbey Granbois earned 15th place at 26:47.93. Donna Butifoker was 20th at 28:36.40.

In the boys’ division, Culbertson/ Bainville placed fifth with 55 points. Scobey took first with 15 followed by Wolf Point and Poplar.

Culbertson /Bainville’s Colby Olson finished 16th at 22:32.18.

Wyatt Snyder placed 19th at 23:20.45. Drae Nelson took 20th at 23:41.04. Maurice Bighorn finished 26th at 26:45.99.

The Culbertson/Bainville cross-country athletes put up solid performances during a four-team Class C home meet on Saturday morning.

Coach Dave Solem was pleased with the team’s performance after the athletes ran at a meet in Scobey just two days earlier.

MonDak’s Elizabeth Field was the top runner in the girls’ division with a time of 20:32. Culbertson’s Kayli Olson finished third in 23:08. Autumn Bergum ran the course in 24:17 for fourth place.

Sam Palmer earned fifth with a time of 24:48. Abbey Granbois took ninth at 23:35. Donna Butikofer finished 11th at 26:49.

Circle’s Krayle Stormer topped the boys’ field with a time of 18:48.

Colby Olson of Culbertson took fourth at 21:07. Wyatt Snyder was right behind in fifth at 21:25. Drue Nelson earned seventh at 22:19. Isaiah Bighorn took eighth at 25:21. Maurice Bighorn placed ninth at 26:35.
