Red Hawks Down Fairview, Fusion

The Froid/Lake RedHawks downed Fairview, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22, in a tight match held in Fairview on Thursday night, Sept. 10.

“We swung pretty well, but our passing had some lapses at times,” Froid/Lake coach Kiah Smith said.

Sydney Dethman, a 6-2 senior, led the Red Hawks in kills and blocks.

“Dethman played really well and kept us together,” Smith said.

Meg Ator led the team in assists. Aleah Johnson served the most aces for the Red Hawks.

It took a while for the Red Hawks to get going, but Froid/Lake battled back to down Richey/Lambert, 12-25,10-25, 25-18, 25-19, 16-14, in Froid on Saturday, Sept. 12.

“Our passing started working for us,” Smith said.

The fifth set was deadlocked at 14-14 until the Red Hawks struck for the last two points including a match-ending ace by senior Kinsey Rasmussen.

Sydney Dethman led the Red Hawks with 12 kills and nine blocks.

Meg Ator and Rasmussen each served three aces.

Ator, a junior, finished with 19 assists.
