Ekalaka Defeats Culbertson
The Culbertson Cowboys fell short against a powerful running Ekalaka squad, 84-24, in Class C football action on Friday night, Sept. 11.
After the Bulldogs struck first, Culbertson’s Kobe Nickoloff returned a kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown to put the Cowboys on the scoreboard.
Culbertson scored later in the opening quarter on a 66yard pass play from Payton Perkins to Nickoloff.
The quarter ended with Ekalaka ahead by a 22-12 margin.
The Bulldogs controlled action in the second quarter to gain a 58-18 half-time margin. The Bulldogs rushed for 327 yards in the first half.
Culbertson’s touchdown of the second quarter came on a 56-yard dash by Perkins.
The Cowboys scored first in the third quarter when Perkins, a sophomore quarterback, broke loose for a 55-yard touchdown run at the 11:02 mark.
Ekalaka finished the third quarter ahead by a 64-24 margin.
The Bulldogs added three touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the 84-24 final.
The Cowboys will host Broadus for homecoming on Friday night.
