The Culbertson Cowgirls overpowered Lustre Christian by a 25-12, 25-5, 25-7, margin during conference volleyball action on Tuesday night.

McKinsey Justice was one of the standouts for Culbertson during the match as the senior finished with an impressive 13 aces. She served for 10 straight points in the first game and 15 straight points in the second set.

Culbertson’s coaches noted that Justice has been working on a jump serve and her serve features excellent top-spin.

The first set was even at 5-5 until the Cowgirls reeled off 11 straight points including 10 on Justice’s service. She had seven aces during the streak.

The Lions ended the run on a block by 5-6 freshman Alexa Reddig.

Culbertson increased the gap to 19-7 on a pair of kills by Makena Hauge. A tip by Aubri Holzrichter cut the gap to 19-8.

Two kills by Kylie Portra down the stretch led the Cowgirls to a 25-12 victory.

Behind by a 3-2 margin in the second set, the serving of Justice along with the net play of Portra and Hauge highlighted the way to a 17-3 advantage.

A pair of kills by Hauge put the margin at 21-5. Culbertson then struck for the set’s final four points including an ace by Anissa Bengochea.

In the third set, the Cowgirls jumped out a 3-0 advantage on the serving of Cody Larsen. Serves by Justice and Koree Marchwick put the margin at 6-1.

Ahead by a 15-4 score, the Cowgirls used a kill and two aces by Hauge to build a 19-5 advantage. The Cowgirls won the third set by a 25-7 final.

The Cowgirls finished with 18 kills including eight each by Haugee and Portra. Hauge added two blocks.

Justice led Culbertson with 10 digs. Bengochea served four aces.
