Nordlund Appointed To County Fair Board

The Roosevelt County commissioners selected Keith Nordlund of Froid as a new fair board member during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

There were three applicants for the position after the resignation of former fair board member Miles Van Gorder.

“First time I’ve seen three candidates for one position in 20 years,” commissioner Gary Macdonald joked.

Macdonald made the motion to appoint Nordlund to the position. Commissioner Duane Nygaard seconded the motion, and it passed.

Commissioners also approved the task order to have Interstate Engineering compile a report for purchasing a vehicle and sweeper for the Wolf Point Airport. The FAA is paying for 95 percent of the project.

Lindsey Nygaard was approved for the promotion to deputy clerk and recorder. She will receive 80 percent of the clerk and recorder’s salary. Commissioners Macdonald and Gordon Oelkers voted in favor of the motion. Nygaard abstained.

The commissioners tabled a decision to upgrade the county’s email service.

Macdonald said he would like to receive more information as far as costs and programs before making a decision regarding the email service.
