The Culbertson Cowgirls ended their regular season on a high note by defeating Nashua in three straight sets during league volleyball action on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Culbertson won the home match by a 25-14, 25-19, 25-23, final.

The Cowgirls enjoyed a strong start as the serving of Cody Larsen and net play of McKinsey Justice led the way to a 6-0 advantage in the first set. A kill by Justice and a pair of aces by Koree Marchwick increased the margin to 11-1.

Culbertson moved ahead 15-4 on a kill by Kylie Portra and a block by Makena Hauge.

Ahead 23-12, Culbertson earned the final two points on a tip by Larsen and a kill by Portra.

The hard hitting of Portra and serving of Marchwick paced the Cowgirls as they took a 7-1 advantage in the second set.

A tip by Marchwick, an ace by Kenadee Kempton and a kill by Larsen put Culbertson up by a 12-4 margin.

Nashua battled back for a 12-12 deadlock, but a kill and ace by Larsen gave the Cowgirls a 14-11 advantage. After a kill by Kaitlyn Miller pulled the Porcupines to 16-14, Culbertson responded with a kill by Hauge, an ace by Anissa Bengochea and a spike by Larsen.

Kills by Hauge, Marchwick and Larsen produced a 22-16 Culbertson lead. A kill by Justice and an ace by Larsen put the margin at 24-17 en route to the 25-19 win.

The strong serving of Bengochea led the Cowgirls to a 14-5 advantage in the third set. Nashua came as close as 14-12, but three kills by Hauge put Culbertson up 17-12.

After the Porcupines cut the gap to 18-17, the net play of Justice and Portra put Culbertson ahead by a 24-20 margin. Culbertson won the set by a 25-23 final.

Portra finished with 15 kills and one block. Hauge accounted for eight kills, one block and 17 digs.

Justice added four aces, six kills and 15 digs. Bengochea served four aces.

Marchwick accounted for five aces, four kills and 16 assists. Kempton had one ace, nine assists and 10 digs.
