Lyle Andres Lyle Andres

Lyle L. Andres passed peacefully away at Faith Home in Wolf Point, Mont., on Oct. 18, 2020, at the age of 97. Lyle had resided west of Poplar prior to being a resident at Faith Home.

Lyle was born on Jan. 29, 1923, in Clifton, Wis., to parents Louis Edward and Rachell Allingham Andres.

He worked in the Tomah, Wis., area for farmers and then at a foundry in Elgin, Ill., before moving to Montana. Bill Carlson hired Lyle during harvest in 1942 and then he worked and lived with the family of Barney and Butch Andresen.

Lyle took time off from farming to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950. He returned to Poplar and continued working for the Andresen family until 2016 when he decided to become a resident at the Faith Home. In all, Lyle worked and lived with the Andresen family for over 74 years.

Lyle was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church in Poplar and served several years as a deacon. He was also the mainstay of the AA organization in both Poplar and Wolf Point. He encouraged many people to follow the AA program and visited with members by reaching out to them by phone and in person and assisting them with their problems. No matter what the weather conditions were, Lyle never missed a meeting.

Lyle was from the old school of farm employees. He never complained and did his job with a positive attitude. Lyle loved to scoop wheat with the old iron shovel, not the newer aluminum ones. He was a kind and caring man that never swore or had a bad thing to say about anyone. Lyle enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, and played many times at Senior Citizens. God’s blessings to you, Lyle. You were much loved.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Vern, Earl, Leon and Myron; and his sisters, Edna and Ruth.

He is survived by his Andresen family of Butch Andresen and Alice (Boone) Whitmer and their children, Allison, Wyatt, Shelby (Irene) and Carolyn.

A burial of ashes will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point, Mont. Military honors will be held at the cemetery to honor his time in the service.
