Indians Run At State Meet
The Poplar Indians placed 16th in the boys standings at the Class B state cross country meet held in Kalispell on Friday, Oct. 23.
Lincoln County won the state title with 63 points. Manhattan placed second with 85, Three Forks took third with 154 and Wolf Point placed fourth with 181 points.
Poplar’s boys ended with 444 points.
Two freshmen led Poplar’s boys at the state competition. Geordy Medicine Cloud finished 59th with a time of 20:24.04. Polito Garfield took 63rd at 20:27.16.
Morgan Mathison, a sophomore, earned 68th at 20:32.13. Hudson Atkinson, a senior, placed 116th at 22:30.45.
Thomas Jerome, a sophomore, took 138th at 24:28.34.
Delray Lilly, a freshman, took 148th at 25:49.81. Kobe Darnell, a junior, placed 157th at 29:57.10.
In the girls’ division, Poplar earned 14th with 503 points.
Broadwater topped the standings with 59 points followed closely by Manhattan with 60 points. Red Lodge placed third with 99 points.
Poplar’s sophomore Jazmyn Carry Water finished 53rd at 24:47.95.
Teagan Escarcega, a junior, placed 91st at 26:59.10. Gracelynn Medicine Cloud, a junior, took 116th at 29:49.51.
Sydney Cummins, a senior, earned 119th at 30:06.55. Jayme Red Boy, a senior, took 124th at 30:58.36. Rikki Belton, a freshman, placed 125th at 31:01.72.
