Wolves Lose Final Football Game
Wolf Point’s football season came to an end with a 48-7 loss at Baker on Monday, Oct. 19.
“It was the most interesting season I have coached,” Wolf Point Coach Ryan Wilson said. “It was a down year for the Wolves, but I believe all of the experience that was gained by the younger players on the team will be beneficial for the future as we had no JV schedule and many players were required to step up and perform for the Wolves this year.”
The Wolves’ touchdown against Baker was scored on a run by Austin Wilson.
Wilson finished with 139 rushing yards and three catches. Gaige Bushman passed for 11 yards. Braeden Toavs rushed for 35 yards.
Corey Martell accounted for 39 kickoff return yards.
“The Wolves are replacing several contributing seniors, but that is the joy of coaching high school football,” Coach Wilson said. “We are replacing standouts in Austin Wilson (our do everything player) and Ian Flynn, our leading tacklers. Braeden Toavs, Josh Bushman, Roberto Bearhill and Parker Swenson will also need to be replaced. Our motto this year was next man up as we were never sure what we would have from week to week. It is now up to the underclassmen to step and fill those roles. Hopefully they hit the weightroom and continue to get themselves better. Underclassmen Corey Martell, Gaige Bushman, Shastin Damon and Kraven Silk will be asked to become leaders and continue the Wolves’ tradition.”
Defensively against Baker, Wilson led the way with 14 total tackles. Charlie Page had seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
Other tackle leaders included Preston Swenson with five, Hunter Raining Bird with four and Vaun Jensen with four. Adding three tackles each were Toavs, Martell, Kraven Silk and Cale Jensen.
