Cowgirls Drop Tournament Matches

The Culbertson Cowgirls put up a good fight before falling to top-seeded Plentywood, 20-25, 14-25, 19-25, as part of the District 1C volleyball tournament in Plentywood on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Culbertson trailed 14-9 in the first set, but the Cowgirls fought back to 14-12 on kills by Makena Hauge and Mckinsey Justice. A kill by Cody Larsen kept Culbertson close at 22-18, but Plentywood took a 25-20 win in the first set.

Culbertson fell behind 19-8 in the second set. A kill by Hauge and a block by Justice pulled Culbertson to 20-11. Another kill by Justice closed the margin to 21-14.

The Wildcats won the second set by a 25-14 final. A kill by Hauge pulled the Cowgirls to 19-13 in the third set.

Down 22-14, Culbertson put together a comeback including a block by Kylie Portra to pull to 23-19. Plentywood tallied the last two points of the match.

The Cowgirls then were eliminated by Scobey in four sets on Friday, Oct. 30.

The Spartans won the first set of the match by a 25-17 final in Scobey.

Culbertson then bounced back to earn the second set by a 28-26 final.

Scobey won the third set by a 25-14 margin. In a very tight fourth set, Scobey scored a 26-24 victory.
