Scott Convicted Of Assault On Child

Luke John Scott Sr., 33, of Wolf Point, has been convicted of assaulting and abusing a minor on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. After a threeday trial that started on Nov. 17, in U.S. District Court, the jury found Scott guilty of the charges.

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris set sentencing for March 24. Scott faces a maximum sentence of a minimum mandatory 10 years to life in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

“One of the most important obligations we have as a society is protecting our children. Those who harm them, like Mr. Scott, will be held accountable. I want to thank Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalah Paisley, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Fort Peck Law Enforcement Services for their investigation and prosecution of this case,” U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme said.

The prosecution presented evidence in court documents and at trial that in March 2019 in Wolf Point, Scott assaulted a minor child by repeated blunt force trauma to the face and strangulation. The victim was treated for serious injuries.
