Michigan Man Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charges

Khalil Lajuan Lyons, 19, Michigan, made not guilty pleas to two felony charges in district court on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Lyons is charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, meth, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, oxycodone. For each count, the maximum sentence is 20 years and the maximum fine is $50,000.

His omnibus hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 13 and his trial is set for March 11.

During the hearing, Defense attorney Mary Louise Zemyan attempted to get Lyons’ bond of $250,000 reduced. Lyons said he was needed to get help his family members out near Detroit, Mich.

“I see him as a serious flight risk. I’m not for reducing the bond,” District Judge David Cybulski said.

According to court documents, a tribal officer assisted by a special agent used a search warrant at a Wolf Point residence on Oct. 29.

After bringing Lyons in, officers discovered 90 oxycodone 30s on his person.

Discovered at the residence were 45.4 grams of suspected meth, 117.5 oxycodone 30 tablets, two morphine pills, two oxycodone 325mg pills, a rifle and $1,369 in cash.
