Stockgrowers Elect Sidney Rancher
Jim Steinbeisser, a rancher in the Sidney area, has been selected as the new president for the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
Steinbeisser was elected to the Stockgrower’ board of directors as first vice president in 2018. He is a past director representing Montana’s northeast district.
He co-owns and operates VS Inc., a diversified farm raising several cash crops, feed for their feedlot and wintering their cows. Steinbeisser served as president of the Montana Beef Council in 2010-11. He was a director of the Montana Farm Bureau from 1990 to 1996, president of Mondak Stockgrowers from 2007-10, past president of Richland County Farm Bureau, and president of Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture in 2002 and 2003. He is also past president of the Sidney FFA Alumni, past member of St. Matthew’s Finance Council and current director of the Foundation for Community Care.
“To our members, I would like to thank you for your support, passion and dedication to this industry and this livestock organization,” Steinbeisser said in a press release. “We need you. Not just one of us has all the answers, but together we can solve a lot of problems.”
Also selected to the board were John Grande as first vice president, Lesley Robinson as second vice president, Dusty Hahn for South Central District, Lon Reukauf for Northeastern District, Monty Lesh for Southeastern District and Bob Sitz for Western District.
The association wrapped up its first-ever Virtual Annual Convention & Trade Show on Wednesday, Nov. 18. This one-of-a-kind event provided more than 200 attendees the chance to gather for keynote addresses, explore a virtual trade show, vote for MSGA’s 2021 board of directors and participate in policy development – all from their own home!
Attendees were able to bring policy forward and vote on resolutions by video chatting and sending messages in MSGA’s virtual event platform. One session, in which MSGA members had a lively debate, even racked up 534 comments as they discussed and voted on policy.
“It’s been an absolute honor to serve this 136-year-old association,” said Fred Wacker, former MSGA President. “I thank you for allowing me to have the opportunity to be your president for the last two years and to represent the greatest livestock organization in the whole world and especially in the state of Montana.”
The purpose of the Annual Convention & Trade Show is to provide education, information, fellowship, and an opportunity for the beef industry & MSGA members to set policy that will shape the landscape of cattle ranching
