Knudsen Resigns, Commissioners Approve Standing Thermometers
The Roosevelt County commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 8. Commissioners Gary Macdonald, Duane Nygaard and Gordon Oelkers, presiding officer, were in attendance.
The commissioners approved minutes for the Nov. 24 regular meeting and minutes for the month of November.
Roosevelt County Attorney Austin Knudsen’s resignation was approved, effective Dec. 3. Macdonald thanked Knudsen for his service and Oelkers offered his congratulations for becoming Montana’s new Attorney General.
Resolution 2021-7 was passed, authorizing prosecutorial assistance from the state attorney general’s office on an open case. Deputy county attorney Frank A. Piocos said a gag order prevents his office from discussing the case. The health department requested authorization to purchase seven standing thermometers at a cost of approximately $34,000 with remaining COVID-19 relief grant funds. The purchases were approved. The equipment will be distributed between Froid, Bainville, the courthouse and health department in Wolf Point and Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.
An annual pay raise was approved for dispatch employee Tiffany Greybear.
A six-month pay raise was approved for road department employee Ryan Lambert.
Holiday hours were approved by a vote of 2-1. Employees will be permitted to leave work at noon on Christmas Eve. Contact numbers will be posted on the courthouse doors and services will be available. Macdonald, who voted against the holiday hours, said the special schedule is against statute.
The health department also requested approval to purchase a Clorox electrostatic sprayer and solution at a cost of $4,122, which is reimbursable from grant funding. The sprayer will be installed at Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.
The IT department requested funds to upgrade the county’s email system at a cost of approximately $20,100. The commissioners approved the request.
