Mason Earns Collegiate Honor
Former Froid/Lake girls basketball standout Morgan Mason is one of this year’s recipients of the Montana Athletes in Service award from the Montana Campus Compact.
Mason, a junior at MSU Northern, received the honor that is based on character, commitment and willingness to engage with the campus.
Her involvement has included a food drive, Walleyes Unlimited Banquet, Spring Fling and Pheasant Hunt, Havre Pride Day, St. Jude’s pumpkin patch, campus clean-up and Camp Kiwanis.
“She is one of the most active kids on our campus,” MSU Northern coach Chris Mouat said.
He notes that Mason is a student senator, which is almost a full-time job in itself. She is well regarded in the Havre community.
“We’re very active as a team, and she’s the first to jump up and volunteer,” Mouat said. “She’s a great example of a student athlete.”
After red-shirting her freshman season, Mason is a sophomore for the Skylights.
“Morgan goes in and plays hard,” Mouat said. “She’s a valuable member of our team.”
Another winner of the Athletes in Service award was Haley Olson of Dawson Community College. She played her high school basketball for the Richey/Lambert Fusion.
