Angelica Sutton looks for opportunities to lead as a senior at Wolf Point High School.

Sutton serves as the president of both the school’s student council and the National Honor Society.

“They are nice leadership roles,” Sutton said. “I like to be part of planning from the beginning.”

Currently, she’s busy as one of the top students in Wolf Point’s speech and drama program.

She enjoys being able to debate against others. “Meeting a lot of new people is cool,” she said.

Sutton explains the topic for Lincoln-Douglas debate deals with U.S. federal jobs guarantee. The concept is that everyone in the country will be guaranteed a job by the U.S. government if they want one. Sutton said her assignment is being able to debate both sides of the issue.

“It’s an interesting topic,” she said.

Other activities include playing the flute for the school’s band and being involved in the art program.

She serves as manager for Wolf Point’s football team and girls’ basketball squad.

What does it take to be a good manager? “Probably listening and being attentive. Be willing to be helpful.”

In the spring, Sutton enjoys competing for Wolf Point’s tennis team.

She said her favorite class is English and her favorite teacher is Ryan Wilson. “He’s laid back. He reminds me of my dad,” Sutton said.

Sutton plans to attend the University of Montana. She will major in business administration and minor in pre-law. Her goal is to become an attorney and represent businesses.

Once in the courtroom, she will find another chance to debate. “I find that’s something that I enjoy.”
