Standouts
Froid High School senior Kaya Parenteau serves in my leadership roles at her school.
Parenteau is the FFA president, secretary of the student council and editor of the school’s yearbook/annual.
Froid’s FFA chapter features about 15 students. “I run the meetings when we have them and make the announcements,” Parenteau said.
She and other FFA members enjoyed attending the competition held in Bainville on Monday, Dec. 14.
“We were told it was a practice run,” Parenteau said. “It was pretty fun.”
Her favorite FFA competitions include livestock judging, ag skills and job interview.
“I think I’ve done pretty well,” she said of the competitions.
As editor, she is one of four members of the school’s yearbook staff. “I still make a bunch of the pages,” she said.
One of her accomplishments was being selected a delegate by Sheridan Electric for the Washington D.C. Youth Tour.
Parenteau said her favorite class is probably government.
“The teacher’s really fun,” she explained. “I get it more than some of the other students.”
The senior explains that attending school in Froid has many benefits.
“It’s a small school so you have more one-on-one instruction,” Parenteau said. “You know everybody.”
She plans to attend Montana State University and to major in agriculture education.
She hopes to be a teacher and is interested in coming back to this area. “Oh yeah, for sure,” Parenteau said.
