The Town of Culbertson hosted a retirement party for David Dean Dec. 30.

Town clerk/treasurer Tiffani Jasper told the Community News that Dean joined the town in his role handling maintenance issues in 2012. She said he handled a garbage route for the town prior to 2012.

Dean’s resignation was submitted to the town council at the Nov. 9 regular meeting.

Area residents attended the ceremony, as did Dean’s grandchildren and wife, along with Mayor Larry Crowder and Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers. Dean was thanked for his time with the town and presented with a cake and commemorative bell.

Dean addressed attendees, describing his time on the job as “nothing but fun.” He thanked Oelkers for hiring him and the town council for supporting him. He also expressed appreciation to public works director Bob Jasper for teaching him the ins and outs of the job.
