Eleven gymnasts from Eastern Montana Gymnastics competed at the Crystal Classic Meet in Fargo on Jan. 9-10. Due to Covid-19, this was the first meet of the season for the Circle gym. Only one spectator was allowed per gymnast but all the routines were live streamed and available for viewing anywhere.

On Saturday, Ella Beery and Emma Hove of Circle and Ashlynn Johannessen of Wolf Point competed in the junior age group of the silver session with 16 gymnasts. Beery, who competed in the bronze level last year, was second on bars, fifth on balance beam and eighth for her all-around. Returning silver gymnast Johannessen was third on floor, seventh on bars, tied for ninth on beam and ninth for her allaround. In her very first competitive meet, Hove tied for seventh for her floor routine.

On Jan. 10, eight EMG gymnasts competed in the gold Level and finished in second place out of the three teams. The first-place team was the TNT team of Fargo, N.D., with 17 gymnasts, and the thirdplace team was the American Gold team of nine gymnasts.

Lina Smith of Richey and Sage Sportsman of Glendive, both returning gold gymnasts, competed in the senior age group of 18 gymnasts. Smith finished in second place for her all-around score and for her uneven bars. She also was tied for fourth for floor and fifth for beam. Sportsman was tied for third on uneven bars, tied for sixth on beam, eighth on floor and seventh for her all-around.

In the junior age group, Jada Sportsman of Glendive won three first places for her all-around, balance beam and floor, out of the 16 gymnasts. She also tied for second on vault and was third on bars. Aspen Boje of Glendive earned fourth place for her floor routine and was sixth for beam and her all-around score and was tied for sixth on vault. Lily Beery, of Circle, was in fifth place for her uneven bars and was ninth for her all-around and tenth for her vault. Ava Hove, of Circle, was seventh for her beam routine and was ninth on uneven bars. Kendra Linder of Glendive was tied for second on floor and was fifth for vault. Kate Nasner of Wolf Point tied for second on vault and was 10th on floor.

Silver Scores (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor, All-Around): Ella Beery (8.3, 9.3, 9.25, 8.675, 35.525), Ashlynn Johannessen (8.5, 9.075, 8.8, 9.125, 35.5), Emma Hove (4.0, 8.55, 8.15, 8.85, 29.55).

Gold scores: Jada Sportsman (8.85, 9.075, 9.025, 9.5, 36.45), Lina Smith (8.7, 9.175, 8.6, 9.45, 35.925), Sage Sportsman (8.2, 9.125, 8.475, 9.375, 35.175), Aspen Boje (8.7, 8.3, 8.4, 9.275, 34.675), Lily Beery (8.45, 8.9, 7.85, 8.5, 33.7), Ava Hove (8.35, 8.475, 8.275, 8.45, 33.55), Kendra Linder (8.725, 6.775, 7.35, 9.45. 32.3), Kate Nasner (8.85, 6.8, 7.35, 8.85, 31.85).

This year, EMG has 10 silver gymnasts, nine gold gymnasts and one platinum gymnast. Their next meet will be in Helena in several weeks with 14 EMG gymnasts planning to attend.
