Sears Wins Divisional Title In Speech, Drama
Wolf Point’s Daniel Sears earned the divisional championship in spontaneous oral interpretation during the Eastern BC divisional virtual speech and drama meet held Saturday, Jan. 23.
Wolf Point competed at the divisional meet with 14 schools from Eastern Montana.
Angelica Sutton placed fourth out of seven debaters in Lincoln Douglas debate.
Delano Eymard competed in dramatic solo and placed fifth out of six students.
All three Wolf Point competitors earned their way to compete at State.
As a team, the Wolves placed fourth out of eight Class B teams that competed in speech. First place was Shepherd, then Huntley followed by Glasgow. Wolf Point did compete in drama for this meet and got sixth out of the eight Class B Teams. Firstplace Class B drama went to Huntley, then Roundup and Glasgow.
In Class C drama, Plentywood took first, Circle took second and Culbertson earned third. In Class C speech, Plentywood earned first place, Culbertson took second and Fairview placed third.
The virtual state meet hosted by Huntley is Jan. 28-30. The final awards ceremony will be streamed on NFHS sports (the same program that streams many of the sports games) Saturday evening around 5 p.m., depending on how well the meet stays on schedule.
