Culbertson Schools Deal With Scheduling Challenges
Although COVID concerns have created havoc with Culbertson High School’s basketball season, it has not caused problems in the classroom during the past couple of weeks.
Culbertson Superintendent of Schools Larry Crowder said because of health concerns regarding three high school students, the school’s basketball teams haven’t had practices or games for the past week and a half.
“It didn’t disrupt classes because they were diagnosed over a long weekend,” Crowder said on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
The teams have postponed their games for this upcoming weekend. The goal is to resume practices on Monday, Feb. 8, as long as the health department provides approval.
Culbertson’s change of schedule includes now playing each league opponent just one time. To finish its schedule, Culbertson is planning to play Plentywood at home on Wednesday, Feb. 10, Richey/Lambert in Richey on Thursday, Feb. 11, and Brockton at home on Friday, Feb. 12.
Culbertson is then scheduled to host four “play-in” contests for the district tournament on Saturday, Feb. 13. Culbertson’s boys will be one of the teams in action. The district tournament games will be played in both Sidney and Culbertson.
“It’s going to be crazy,” Crowder said.
All of the Eastern C divisional basketball tournament will take place in Sidney with the girls playing on March 3-5, and the boys taking the court on March 4-6.
