Senior Jaxon Stangeland has been busy lately making Froid High School a little more beautiful.

For the past two and a half weeks, he has been working on a mural in the school’s cafeteria.

“I’m about half done with it,” Stangeland said. “It’s taking me awhile.”

The 6 feet by 8 feet mural features combines in the field during a sunset.

“It will be the only mural that involves agriculture,” Stangeland said. “I wanted it to be something different.”

His favorite classes are art and science. He has a good reason to like science class. “My mom’s the science teacher so she helps me a lot,” he laughed.

Besides his mother, his favorite teacher is Michael Reiter.

School activities have included football, basketball, golf, band, FFA and Business Professionals of America. Football is his best sport. “It was the one sport that I was better at,” Stangeland said.

It was also certainly a thrill to be a part of a state championship team. “This year was the best,” he said.

For the band, he performed in percussions and on the tuba. He preferred the tuba. “It was less instruments to carry around during tournaments and stuff,” he noted.

Competing in interviewing divisions for both FFA and BPA were positive learning experiences.

He plans to attend Montana State University-Northern in Havre and study diesel mechanics.

Stangeland will then return to help his father and grandfather on the family farm.

“I like how it’s a small community,” he said of Froid. “We’re all together and know each other.”
