Poplar’s wrestlers split duals against Miles City during home action Tuesday, Feb. 9.

“This is probably the best match-up we had during the last couple of weeks,” Poplar Coach Jason Frederick said.

The coach was pleased with how the Indians came through to win several hardfought decisions. He is also glad that about five wrestlers will soon be able to return to action.

Poplar’s Jazmyn Gorder started things off by earning a pin in 1:19 at 113 pounds. Gorder is currently the fourth-ranked girl in her weight class.

Jase Frederick then scored a pin in 2:09 at 120 pounds to put Poplar up by a 12-0 team score.

After a forfeit loss at 126, Poplar’s Mitchell Youngman earned a 9-8 decision at 132. Kameron Reum lost on a tough 6-4 decision at 138 pounds.

Poplar’s Gage Berg pinned his opponent in 3:38 to put the Indians up by a 21-9 team score.

At 160 pounds, Logan Boadle earned a 12-2 decision victory to increase the team margin to 25-9.

Miles City won the next two matches on forfeits to cut the team score to 25-21. The Cowboys then won the heavyweight match on a pin for a 27-25 final.

Poplar won the night’s second dual by a 30-18 final score.

After Gorder earned a default victory, Frederick scored a pin in 5:40 to put Poplar ahead by a 12-0 margin.

Youngman earned a pin in 55 pins at 132 pounds.

With the team score at 18-6, Berg won on a pin in 1:55 for a 24-6 team score.

Boadle then pinned his opponent in 52 seconds at 160 pounds.

Miles City won the final two matches on a forfeit and a pin for the 30-18 final.
