Bulldogs Score Win Over Circle Squad

Bainville’s boys’ basketball squad kept its season alive with a 60-46 victory over Circle on Thursday, Feb. 18.

The Bulldogs earned a 14-8 lead in the first quarter. Jesse Strickland scored five points for the Bulldogs during the period.

Bainville increased its advantage to 29-19 at the half. Strickland led the attack with nine points in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs led 41-29 after three quarters of play. The Bulldogs tallied 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Strickland finished with 30 points to lead the Bulldogs. Also scoring were Kaden Hansen with eight, Braeden Romo with seven, Chuck Butikofer with six, Ayden Knudson with five and Sam Butikofer with four.

Top scorers for Circle were Beau Beery with 18 and Caleb Gackle with 15 points.

Bainville fell short against MonDak, 48-35, during the first round of the District 2C boys’ basketball tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

MonDak led by a 23-13 halftime margin.

Bainville bounced back and came as close as 28-25 during the third quarter on two three-pointers by Kaden Hansen and a three-pointer by Jesse Strickland. Mon-Dak responded with Darian Holecek hitting a three-pointer and Erik Field adding a basket. The Thunder held a 33-25 advantage at the end of the period.

The Bulldogs couldn’t get closer than eight points in the final period.

Reaching double figures for the Bulldogs were Strickland with 14 and Hansen with 10 points.

Also scoring were Chuck Butikofer with six, Braeden Romo with three and Sam Butikofer with six.

Leading the Thunder were Holecek with 21, Field with 11 and Keegan Nelson with 10 points.
