Brockton Falls Short At 2C Tournament

Brockton’s boys’ basketball had its season come to an end when the Warriors lost to Plentywood, 57-37, on Thursday, Feb. 18.

The game was deadlocked at 30-30 after three quarters of play, but Plentywood used two three-pointers by Cayden Trupe and another by Reese Wirtz to pull away in the fourth period.

Top scorers for Brockton were Malcom Yellow Hammer with 14 and Allen Russell with 12 points.

Also scoring were Quinn-Dale Pretty Paint by seven, Wambidi Yellow Hammer with three and Treydyn Bauer with one.

Leading Plentywood were Wirtz with 17 and Trupe with 16 points.

The Warriors led 6-3 at the end of the first quarter and 23-17 at the half. M. Yellow Hammer scored eight points in the third quarter.

Froid/Lake’s boys’ basketball squad opened its district tournament play with a 62-19 victory over Brockton on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Red Hawks exploded for 21 points in the first quarter to gain a 21-2 advantage. Bode Miller accounted for eight points including two three-pointers in the quarter. Tyler Wivholm added two three-pointers.

Froid/Lake enjoyed a 39-4 half-time lead. Mason Dethman tallied six points in the second period.

Scoring for Brockton were Malcom Yellow Hammer with 12, Wambidi Yellow Hammer with five and Allen Russell with two.
