Indians Lose Game Against Harlem


Poplar’s boys’ basketball season came to an end when the Indians lost to Harlem, 72-55, in loser-out play at the District 2B tournament in Sidney on Friday, Feb. 26.
The Indians fell behind 20-9 in the first quarter. Joe Bear scored five of Poplar’s points in the opening period.
Harlem led by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, but Poplar battled back for a 35-25 half-time score. Wilfred Lambert tallied six points in the period.
The Wildcats, however, ran off 20 points in the third quarter for a 55-38 advantage.
Bear led the Indians with 17 points including three three-pointers. Also reaching double figures were Lambert with 14 and Inyan Growing Thunder with 12 points.
Rounding out Poplar’s scoring were Geordy Medicine Cloud with three, Delrae Lilley with two and William Youngman with one point.
Top scorers for Harlem were Trent Main with 14, Tyler Cichosz with 12, Daniel Lawrence with 10 and Jehton Long Fox with 10.
