Individuals Have Hearings In District Court
Gabriel Scott Hughes of Glasgow changed his plea to guilty for the charge of theft and was sentenced in district court on Wednesday, March 10.
Maximum penalties for the offense is 10 years in prison, a $50,000 fine or both.
During the hearing, Hughes admitted that on Aug. 18, 2020, he took a Chevy Impala without consent. He said he drove the vehicle to Glasgow and left it in a field.
Based on a plea agreement, District Judge David Cybulski gave Hughes a four-year suspended sentence to be concurrent with charges in Valley County. He was fined $1,000. Hughes is also to be placed in the Pine Hills treatment facility.
Other cases on Wednesday, March 10, included:
•Jessica Taylor, 39, Wolf Point, received a three-year suspended sentence and was fined $1,000 for criminal possession of drugs.
•John Jason Dennis changed his plea to guilty for being in possession of dangerous drugs - cocaine. During the hearing, Dennis admitted that while at the Stateline Casino, an officer saw cocaine in plain view while the officer was looking in vehicles with a flashlight. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered.
