Ride For Tomorrow Sees Warm Welcome
A motorcycle ride to raise awareness for suicide prevention stopped at Sinclair in Culbertson June 19. Participants received a warm welcome from community members.
The ride was planned by Yellowstone American Legion Riders, Dog Tag Buddies and Tenacious Dames Riding Club and was listed as an official Iron Butt Ride (1,000 miles in 24 hours). Jobs for Montana Graduates participated, as did members of the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department.
As JMG began setting up for the ride participants, members of the community began to show up one by one,” said Mary Machart. “As the parking lot began to fill and red, white and blue was showing up everywhere the first group of riders arrived.”
Hugs and stories were shared as each group came through town.
“Every person there made it possible to show support for the riders’ commitment to keeping the conversation going to help change Montana’s suicide numbers,” said Machart.
“What an incredible day,” said organizer Kati Grove. “The first annual Ride for Tomorrow is in the books! About 50 riders hit the road yesterday to add miles to the conversation of suicide awareness and prevention in Montana, including 31 riders challenging themselves to ride 1,000 miles in 24 hours. All riders were safely accounted for by midnight.”
