FPST Cancels God Help Us
Fort Peck Fine Arts Council executive director Jennifer Fewer told the Northern Plains Independent that 92-year-old Golden Globe and Emmy winning actor Ed Asner has been hospitalized, prompting cancellations at the summer theatre’s planned production starting Asner.
No official statement has been released by Asner’s management with details of his hospitalization and expected recovery, according to Fewer. God Help Us was scheduled to perform at Fort Peck Summer Theatre July 2–4.
On Saturday, July 3, FPST will present a special 2 p.m. matinee of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown to offer an entertainment option for the weekend. No other shows will be added to replace Asner’s canceled performances, said Fewer.
All ticket purchasers for God Help Us will be refunded. Refunds will start processing on Thursday, June 24.
Despite this cancellation, the 2021 season continues with You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Spitfire Grill and Baskerville running in rotation beginning June 25; Godspell, Jr: July 28–31; Around the World in 80 Days…or 37 Minutes!: various tour stops July 27–Aug. 3 and Pam L. Veis and Megan Wiltshire in Terms of Endearment Aug. 20 – Sept. 5.
