Merrill Recognized As RMC’s Employee Of The Quarter
Administrative assistant Terri Merrill knows nearly all patients walking through the front entrance at Roosevelt Medical Center by name.
Merrill greets everyone with a warm and friendly smile. Throughout her day, she continuously screens patients and connects them to varying departments in person and over the telephone. Her positivity never wavers and is heard through countless conversations with patients, visitors and staff.
Her willingness to go above and beyond her job duties is one of many reasons she was selected as the Employee of the Quarter for Roosevelt Medical Center for the months of April, May and June through the facility’s rewards and recognition program.
Merrill joined RMC as an administrative assistant and has worked at RMC for three years.
“There are many ways to make a difference in a patient’s health care experience. I think it starts with a smile or a helpful gesture. As one of the first faces patients see when they arrive, I want their first interaction to be friendly and reassuring,” Merrill said.
Prior to joining RMC she was living in Arizona and working at a Walmart store. Together with her husband Brian, she moved back to the area in 2018.
“Terri is a team member who never hesitates to jump in and assist with a project. She is always helpful and has been a great asset to our facility,” said Amy Harling, social services director.
According to staff, Merrill is always willing to lend a hand to other departments when they need help and serves on internal committees including the Orientation, HIPAA Compliance, Safety, Survey, and Prevention committees. She also keeps track of contracts and safety data information, schedules nursing staff and serves as the liaison between the facility and traveling staff while setting up their housing arrangements.
“Terri continues to expand on the scope of her responsibilities and is always positive, friendly and committed to the success of the facility,” said Audrey Stromberg, administrator.
The Employee of the Quarter Program recognizes professional and support staff that make exceptional contributions to the facility. All facility representatives are encouraged to nominate colleagues who deserve this special acknowledgment. Selection of the employee of the quarter is then determined through a random group of staff, board and community members.
The nominee to receive the most votes is selected. The next quarter nominations will be turned in by late September with selection made in early October.
