Featherston Earns Grand Champion Honors Featherston Earns Grand Champion Honors

Kalia Featherston of the Centennial Clovers 4-H Club was a double champion during this year’s Roosevelt County Fair.

Featherston, who is entering the sixth grade in Culbertson, wasn’t only the grand champion for sheep but she also earned the honor for goats.

“I’m really happy with my animals,” Kalia said after her accomplishments.

Success isn’t new for her at the county fair. She is a previous grand champion in both sheep and goats.

“I have a special lamb every year,” she explained.

She noted there are many benefits from being involved in 4-H. She has learned how to take care and feed her animals in 4-H.

In addition, she has also been learned about sewing, baking, cooking and photography because of 4-H activities. She earned blue ribbons in baking and cooking this year.

She thanks her family for helping her throughout the process.

Her older brother Kaden Featherston is entering the eighth grade. He received blue ribbons for his sheep, goat and steer this year.

“I’m happy to have her around,” Kaden said of Kalia. “We’re a pretty good team.”
