Kust, Maroon Make No Guilty Pleas
Jason Allen Kust of Bismarck, N.D., entered a not guilty plea to the charge of possession with intent to distribute dangerous drugs during a hearing in district court on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
If convicted of the felony, maximum penalties are 20 years in prison, a $50,000 fine or both Kust is charged with having 2 ounces of meth in his possession when he was arrested on Aug. 5. The street value, if broken down into common ÂĽ-gram sales increments, is approximately $13,000. He also allegedly had $6,300 in counterfeit $100 bills in his possession.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Sept. 15. A trial was scheduled for Dec. 16.
Defense attorney Chris White requested that the bond for Kust be reduced from $50,000 to $20,000. He noted that Kust has two children and a mother in Bismarck.
County attorney Frank A. Piocos argued that Kust has a criminal history of 33 pages long, a potential federal charge and is a flight risk.
District judge David Cybulski denied the bond reduction request. Also on Wednesday, Aug. 11, Darrell Dan Maroon made not guilty pleas to two counts of assault of a peace officer, possession of dangerous drugs, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Maximum penalties are 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine for each of the assault of a peace officer charges, five years and a $5,000 fine for possession of dangerous drugs, a $100 fine for disorderly conduct, six months and a $500 fine for resisting arrest and six months and a $500 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Sept. 15. Trial was scheduled for Dec. 16.
