Motorcycle, Pilot Car Involved In Crash

An accident involving a motorcycle and a pilot car occurred near mile marker 617 of U.S. Highway 2 on July 21. Two individuals were reported to have minor injuries from the crash.

According to a report by Montana Highway Patrol, the accident involved a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Roger Andrew Schaffer of Ada, Mich., and a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Joseph Levette Robinson of Lafayette, Ind. The pickup was a pilot car for an oversized load, wind turbine blade.

Both the motorcycle and pickup passed the oversized load and were traveling east. The pickup slowed and pulled to the right in order to turn into the westbound lane to block traffic while the oversized load turned north onto Highway 251. The oversized load when turning took up both lanes of travel.

The motorcycle slowed and attempted to go around the pickup to the left. The motorcycle hit the pickup’s broadside on the front drivers side tire/quarter panel.

Both Schaefer and a passenger reportedly had suspected minor injuries.
