Town Of Froid Holds Budget Hearing, Regular Meeting

The Town of Froid held a public budget hearing Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.

According to clerk LeAnn Krumwiede Johnson, the council went through the budget line by line and decided to approve the maximum number of mills.

After the budget meeting, the council held the regular monthly meeting. It was called to order at 7:25 p.m.

The council approved the July and August meeting minutes as well as the July public hearing minutes.

Odean Kilsdonk gave an update on public works activity. This included the new fence he is in the process of putting up around the lagoon lift station. He also said he has been mowing/cleaning up properties owned by the town.

Mayor Sheri Crain read an email from engineer Greg Lukasik with Great West Engineering regarding the ARPA funding/storm drain project. It included a rough estimate on the proposed storm drain project. The council decided to ask around to see if someone local was able to do the job. Crain will contact Franz Construction to inquire about the work needed.

The council reviewed accounts receivables and delinquencies.

Crain read Resolution No. 20214 adopting and approving the mill levies for 2021-2022. She also read Resolution No. 2021-5 adopting the budget for 2021-2022. Both Resolutions were adopted/approved. Resolution No. 2021-6 was read, canceling the Nov 2, 2021, general election of certain municipal officers. This resolution was also adopted/approved.

Council briefly discussed the garbage rates for unoccupied residences. They decided the rates should remain as is.

The council reviewed and approved for payment all claims from August and September.

The next council meeting will be Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
