Nemont To Host Retirement, Welcome Party

A retirement/welcome party is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Stagecoach in Culbertson beginning at 4 p.m. The “out with the old, in with the new“ event will celebrate the retirement of Mike Machart and Jeff Thorpe and welcome two new employees to town.

Machart and Thorpe both began working for Nemont in 1994.

According to Mary Machart, Mike and Jeff still had to climb telephone poles when they started on the job and saw the introduction of the very first cell phones, actually known as “Bag Phones,” which traveled in vehicles.

Machart and Thorpe each put in over 26 years on the job.
