Wolves Fall Short To Circle


Wolf Point’s volleyball squad fell short in a non-conference match at Circle by a final of 18-25, 9-25, 17-25, on Thursday, Sept. 30.
After an ace by Tatum Kemp pulled the Wolves to 11-7 in the first set, Circle moved out to a 23-10 advantage. The strong play of Alexis Moline and Grace Gackle led the Wildcats during the streak.
Wolf Point battled back with a kill by Sierra Hamilton and the serving of J’Elle Garfield to close the gap to 23-14.
After the Wildcats scored on a spike by Sierra Nagle, the Wolves kept fighting back on kills by Hamilton and Jaylee Azure for a 24-18 game. Circle, however, ended the match at 25-18.
Circle jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the second set until Wolf Point’s Azure scored a kill to cut the gap to 11-3.
The Wildcats moved ahead 21-7 en route to a 25-9 victory.
Circle took an 8-2 lead in the third set, but the Wolves battled back on spikes by Hamyanie Campbell, Hamilton, Azure and Garfield to pull to 10-6.
Down by a 14-7 margin, the Wolves used the strong spiking ability of Hamilton to close the margin to 16-11. A tip by Hamilton put the score at 18-13.
After a kill by Garfield kept Wolf Point close at 21-15, Circle pulled away for the 25-17 win.
Hamilton finished with 11 kills and one block.
Kylie Rodenberg accounted for 22 assists. Garfield served two aces.
Katelyn MacDonald led the Wolves with 11 digs.
Leaders for Circle included Nagle with six kills and 16 assists, Moline with 16 assists and two aces and Gackle with 14 kills, four blocks and 12 digs.
