Roosevelt County Holds 4-H Achievement Day
The 2021 4-H Achievement Day was held Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Culbertson Town Hall. Frontier 4-H Club hosted the event with ice cream, cookies, bars, pie and mini cheesecakes being served and the event ended with a scavenger hunt to Ike’s Fishing Pond and Walking Trail.
The Centennial Clovers 4-H Club members were involved in Cloverbuds, cooking, baking, babysitting, sewing, sport fishing, beef, poultry, swine, sheep, goat, vet. science, horsemanship and rabbit projects. Jodi Albus, Ella Anderson, Tally and Tenley Berwick and Payton Labatte received a citizenship award. Jodi Albus, Ella Anderson, Hailey Berwick, Tally and Tenley Berwick, Emma Berwick, Jaylynn Bjorge, Kaden and Kalia Featherston, Payton Labatte, and Bella and Nash Petersen received a special award in achievement. Hailey Berwick, Tally Berwick, Kaden Featherston and Payton Labatte each received a leadership award.
The Frontier 4-H Club members were involved in Cloverbuds, vet. science, beef sheep, and swine. Tiara Whitmus received a leadership Award.
The Tumbleweed 4-H Club members were involved in beef, sheep, swine, poultry, horse, beef, cooking, photography, visual arts and cloverbud projects.
The Up-N-Atom 4-H Club members were involved in babysitting, photography, baking, cooking, sewing, woodworking, beef, swine, goat, vet. science, sheep and Cloverbud projects.
In the Livestock Carcass awards, 14 market steers were evaluated. No steers qualified to receive a 2021 Steer of Merit award, but the top five are: Tiara Whitmus, Kaylee Olson (Froid FFA), Rowan Wilson, Tally Berwick, and Sierra Skor (Bainville FFA). Twenty-four market hogs were evaluated and 12 met the Symbol of Excellence standards. They were Emma Berwick, Britten VanGorder, Parker Berwick, Jordyn Breuer, Siena Martinez, Jaxon Flinn, Tally Berwick, Cody Olson, Kaylee Olson (Froid FFA), Elsie Wilson, Tiara Whitmus and Holden Salivar.
Eleven market lambs were evaluated. Five lambs made Certified Lamb standards and they were Jacob Nordlund, Kaden Featherston, Tiara Whitmus, Holden Salivar and Kalia Featherston.
Five meat goats were evaluated. No goats qualified for 2021 Carcass of Merit but the top two were Tenley Berwick and Kaden Featherston. The outstanding secretary award went to Keira Stentoft of the Up-NAtom 4-H Club.
Appreciation awards recognize organizational leaders and council officers for their commitment to further the growth and success of Roosevelt county 4-H and they went to: Shonny Stentoft, Up-N-Atom Organizational leader and support to Josh Stentoft, council secretary; Jeanna Adkins, Tumbleweed organizational leader and council president; Phyllis Sethre, Frontier organizational leader, and council vice president; Tana Berwick, Centennial Clovers organizational leader; Bridgette Featherston, Centennial Clovers organization leaders and council treasurer.
The 4-H Involvement Award this year was sponsored by CHMS, P.C. Certified Public Accountants of Wolf Point and recognized all Roosevelt County 4-H Clubs.
Achievement Day was canceled last year because of COVID so Years of Service awards, which recognizes member and leaders for milestone years of membership and service to 4-H, were presented for last year and this year. Five-year members in 2020 were Jodi Albus, Tally Berwick, Kaden Featherston, Kalia Featherston, Rowan Wilson, Reed Winn and Lilly Johnson; the leaders were Dana and Tana Berwick, Kody and Bridgette Featherston, Chelsie and Stephen Flinn, and Kayla John- and Kayla Johnson. The 2021 five-year members were Tenley Berwick and Jaxon Flinn. Leaders were David and Lindsey Winn.
Seven-year member in 2020 was Elsie Wilson. The 2021 members were Brytta Beery, Carter Winn, and Cody Olson; the leaders were Janice Albus and Tammy Olson.
2020 10-year member was Kaitlyn Adkins. 2021 leaders were Josh and Shonny Stentoft.
Fifteen-year leader was Jeanna Adkins. 2020 leaders were Ardis and Gordon Oelkers; the 2021 leaders were Laura Christoffersen and Jens Nielsen.
