Cowboys Fall To Fairview Squad
Despite a strong second quarter, the Culbertson Cowboys came up short against Fairview, 63-45, in boys’ basketball play on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Culbertson trailed 18-14 at the end of the first quarter and by a 27-21 margin midway into the second quarter.
The Cowboys then got rolling as James Kirkaldie accounted for five straight points for a 27-27 deadlock.
After Fairview’s Hunter Sharbono hit a 14-footer, Culbertson took the lead on a three-pointer by Isaiah Bighorn.
Fairview went back ahead, 31-30, on a 12-footer by Kanyon Taylor, but a free throw by Payton Perkins tied the game at 31-31 at the half.
The Warriors tallied the first eight points of the third quarter before Colin Avance scored at the 5:03 mark.
A basket by Perkins kept Culbertson close at 42-35 with 4:03 left in the period, but Fairview led 48-37 at the end of the quarter.
Fairview then accounted for the first eight points of the fourth quarter.
Avance led the Cowboys with 14 points while I. Bighorn finished with nine points.
Maurice Bighorn and Kirkaldie added eight points each. Perkins scored six points.
The Cowboys will host Savage on Saturday, Dec. 11.
