Genea Harris has been hosting classes and offering handmade wire, rock and beaded jewelry in the old Searchlight office across from Hometown Market in Culbertson. She invited the Community News to sit in on a “Rocks n Wire” class Sunday, Dec. 12.

During the class, Harris hosted Culbertson’s Nina Gregory and daughter Heather Hodges of Newberg, as well as Mary Hinojosa of Poplar. The trio signed up to learn to wrap copper and moonstone jewelry. The cost of Harris’ classes varies depending on the cost of supplies but averages between $20-$50 and includes the items created, which attendees keep.

Harris said all ages are welcome at her classes. She said the tasks and level of difficulty are tailored to fit the skill levels of the participants.

Harris said some of her equipment and items for sale come from fellow artists and crafters in the west. She said collaborators include artists from Alaska, Plentywood, Billings and other locations around Montana.

“Nina (Gregory) recently started making some sewn and jewelery projects as well,” said Harris.

Harris said her hours are flexible and she is open for appointments. Regular hours are 1-6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Rocks n Wire is located at 110 Broadway Avenue in Culbertson. Call 406-621-0445.
