Culbertson Students Place In Laurel

The Culbertson speech and drama team traveled to Laurel to compete in the Locomotive Invitational on Dec 11.

“This was the biggest meet this year,” said coach Jeri Gustafson, “with over 350 competitors vying for the top honors in their events. Students competed against 24-42 competitors in each event.”

Trevor Green placed third in informative speaking. Zach Miller took fourth in memorized public address and Joseph McCarty placed 8th in humorous oral interpretation. The team placed 3rd overall in Class C speech sweepstakes.

The team also trekked to Columbus and took first place in the Class C sweepstakes at their invitational meet on Dec. 4.

“Our small but determined team enjoyed traveling to a new location, reconnecting with competitors outside of our division,” said Gustafson. “In short, everyone had a positive experience.”

At Columbus, Trevor Green placed first in informative; Zach Miller, first in MPA; Eric Chilson, fourth in informative; Morgan Lucas, fifth in MPA and Trever Powell placed sixth in humorous oral interpretation.
