U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., recently visited IND HEMP in Fort Benton to discuss how their business is supporting Montana farmers and expanding Montana’s ag economy.

Daines toured their processing facilities where IND HEMP is turning Montana farmers’ hemp into products like hemp seed oil, animal feed, protein powder and even fiber for building materials and clothing.

Following the visit, Daines said, “Hemp farming is opening up new doors for Montana producers, creating Montana jobs and supporting Montana’s ag economy. IND HEMP could help revitalize rural communities in Montana, and I look forward to working to cut burdensome regulations for all hemp producers in Montana.”

Daines secured the “Hemp Farming Act,” which allows states to regulate hemp production and research and make hemp eligible for crop insurance, in the 2018 Farm Bill.

Daines also introduced the bipartisan “SAFE Banking Act” to ensure that hemp and hemp-derived CBD related businesses have access to banks, credit unions and other financial institutions.
