Lady Wolves Fall Against Glasgow


Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad put together a strong comeback bid but fell short at Glasgow, 46-39, on Friday, Jan. 28.
Trailing by a 36-24 margin with under five minutes left in the league game, the Wolves started a comeback when KJ St. Marks canned a three-pointer. A basket off a rebound by Sierra Hamilton pulled the Wolves to 36-29 with 4:01 left.
After Glasgow’s Sabrina Harsh hit three free throws, the Wolves kept the heat on when Hamilton accounted for a three-point play for a 39-32 game with 2:48 on the clock. A hoop by J’Elle Garfield pulled the Wolves to 4334 with 1:05 left.
Garfield fired in a three-pointer to cut the gap to 44-37 with 58 seconds remaining, but the Wolves couldn’t get any closer.
Hamilton finished with 12 points to lead the Wolves. Garfield and Josie Kolstad added seven points each. Also scoring were St. Marks with six, Jaylee Azure with four, Haidyn Raining Bird with two and Hamyanie Campbell with one.
Leading the Scotties were Daley Aune with 15 and Harsh with 11 points.
Kolstad scored seven points for the Wolves during the opening quarter and the period ended in a 10-10 deadlock.
After Glasgow gained a 1612 advantage in the second quarter, the Wolves cut the gap to 16-15 on a short jumper by Hamilton and a free throw by Campbell.
The Scotties ran off five straight points during the third quarter for a 22-17 lead. Aune accounted for the last four points of the period to put Glasgow up 26-19.
Glasgow then struck for the opening four points of the fourth period on a 14-footer by Tyane Graham and a basket off a rebound by Harsh to increase the margin to 30-19.
The Wolves will host Baker on Friday, Feb. 4, and travel to Harlem on Saturday, Feb. 5.
