Collective Bargaining Starts In Wolf Point
The Wolf Point Education Association and the Wolf Point School Board held its first collective bargaining meeting for a new contract on Monday, Jan. 31.
Patricia Toavs, co-president of the Wolf Point Education Association, presented results of a survey from teachers regarding “wants and needs” at their school buildings.
The list based on the survey included a dean of students at each school in order to provide administrators for more time to observe classrooms; more elective teachers especially for home economics, Spanish and Native American language; having the Gifted and Talented program; more intervention teachers especially for the areas of reading and math; alternative learning teachers in the elementary schools; increasing the number of certified staff so it reaches a previous total; additional special education teachers; additional speech pathologist teachers; behavior therapists; and an office clerk at schools.
Upcoming meetings are scheduled for Feb. 15, Feb. 28 and March 8. Sessions start at 5 p.m. in the high school library.
