Frazer’s Girls Drop Opening Contest


After a close first half, Frazer’s girls’ basketball squad fell short against Nashua, 41-29, in the first round of the District 3C tournament in Wolf Point on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The Bearcubs were behind 8-3 at the end of the first quarter and tied the game at 12-12 when Baily Beston hit two free throws with three minutes left in the half.
After Nashua took a 16-12 lead on two hoops by Tia Dees, a pair of free throws by B. Beston pulled the Bearcubs to 16-14 at intermission.
The Porcupines accounted for the first 11 points of the third quarter, The Bearcubs battled back to 27-22 on a basket by Liana Jackson, a drive by B. Beston and a three-pointer by Shakira Beston.
Nashua held a 33-24 lead at the end of the period.
Nashua outscored Frazer by an 8-5 margin in the final period.
Top scorers for the Bearcubs were Jackson with eight and B. Beston with six.
Dees scored 17 points for Nashua.
